ATTICA. Athens. Circa 455-449 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 17.13 g, 4 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves and palmette, circular earring and pearl necklace. Rev. AΘE Owl standing right, head facing; to left, olive sprig and crescent; all within incuse square. HGC 4, 1596. Starr Group V.B. Svoronos pl. 10, 13-8. A lovely piece with a charming owl. Minor traces of corrosion, otherwise, about extremely fine.
